Canadian Business Immigration Program
There are several ways for business entrepreneurs and seasoned people in business to enter Canada. Some of the programs include:
OINP Entrepreneur Stream (OES)
An immigration stream under the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) offers international entrepreneurs the opportunity to settle in Canada and establish or acquire an existing business in Ontario. The stream enables the applicants to gain access to Canada’s permanent residency after the company is fully established.
The eligibility criterion for the program are:
- You need to have a minimum of 24 months of full-time business experience in the last 5 years.
- You need to have a net worth of:
- CA$800,000 for a business inside GTA (Greater Toronto Area).
- CA$400,000 for a business outside GTA.
- You need to own a minimum of 33% and invest at least CA$600,000 in a business in GTA (CA$200,000 outside GTA).
- You need to create two full-time jobs for Canadian citizens or permanent residents if the business is in GTA (one full-time job for business outside GTA).
- You need to score at least CLB 4 in English or French.
Manitoba Entrepreneur Pathway
Manitoba entrepreneur Pathway is for experienced individuals worldwide who are planning to establish or acquire a business or partner in an existing business in Canada. The applicants successful under this program must have a temporary work permit and need to meet all business requirements within the first 24 months of arrival in Canada.
The eligibility criterion for this program is:
- You need to have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the management of a qualifying business.
- You need to invest CA$150,000 for business outside Manitoba’s capital region (or CA$250,000 within the Manitoba’s capital region).
- You need to have a net worth of CA$500,000.
- You need to have a minimum CLB/NCLC 5 in Language Proficiency Exam.
Start-up Visa
Canada encourages and embraces the start-up community with its “NO-CONDITIONS ATTACHED” Start-up Visa program. Canadian Government exclusively launched this program to encourage budding entrepreneurs to come to Canada and settle their business.
The primary benefit of applying through the Start-up Visa program is that the successful candidates can enter Canada as permanent residents irrespective of their business venture and plan.
